The Role of Mass Media Methods of Influence in the Social
Development of Students
Abstract
In the modern information society, the influence of mass media on children and adolescents is steadily increasing, significantly affecting their worldview, behavior, and social relationships. Adolescents are more inclined toward information technologies, which directly impacts their socialization process. This study thoroughly examines the formative role of mass media, the subconscious impact of the messages it delivers, manipulative methods, and both visual and verbal influence techniques. At the same time, the psychological risks and potential benefits of these tools are assessed. The importance of properly guiding the role of mass media in the development of adolescents’ personalities is emphasized, highlighting the significance of the parent-teacher partnership. The research findings show that pedagogical control over media content and the promotion of media literacy among students play a crucial role in shaping their social skills. The influence of mass media can have both positive and negative outcomes, and the nature of these effects largely depends on how the media is used and the educational environment. The article substantiates the necessity of effective pedagogical approaches and enhancing media literacy when working with adolescents. Particular attention is given to the manipulative and educational functions of mass media, stressing that their proper direction is essential for the healthy social development of schoolchildren. In modern society, the media acts not only as a tool for transmitting information, but also as a powerful means of social education and formation.
