The Importance of Therapy for the Social-Emotional Development of
Children with Disabilities
Abstract
One of the main issues facing society today is to ensure the successful adaptation of children with disabilities to society, to identify their developmental needs in a timely manner and to provide the necessary support. Therapy aimed at these children includes special methods and interventions aimed at strengthening their skills in the physical, emotional, social and cognitive areas, taking into account their individual developmental characteristics and potential. The type of therapy should be selected according to the characteristics of each child and this process should be carried out by multidisciplinary teams of specialists. Therapies applied to children with disabilities are of great importance in improving their quality of life and integrating them into society. Therapy programs should be developed based on the individual needs of the child and should be kept under constant supervision. To achieve effective results, therapy should be carried out comprehensively not only by professionals, but also in cooperation with parents and educational institutions. Our main mission as a society is not only to provide assistance, but also to unleash the potential of these children and create conditions for them to live more meaningful and full lives. This goal can be achieved by appropriately combining an inclusive approach, pedagogical and psychological support and a continuous therapy process.
