Selection and Interactive use of Multimedia Materials in English Lessons

 

Abstract

 

With the great influence of scientific and technological innovations, the knowledge economy is gradually being improved. Here, of course, the language factor plays an important role. Formerly, most of the great thinkers and scientists wrote their works in Latin, Arabic, French, German and other languages. However, since the last century, as a result of the transformation of English into a global language, this language has been preferred in writing scientific works in all countries of the world.

Educational systems all over the world are affected by new technologies. Through them, students are taught the knowledge and skills needed in the 21st century. Countries around the world are making changes in the teaching/learning process to prepare young people for an information and technology-based society. Multimedia turns teacher-centered and mainly grammar-based lessons into a rich, student-oriented, interactive environment. Of course, teachers have a great responsibility here. They should teach students how to benefit from such opportunities.

Taking notes while listening to audio or video materials in English is one of the most useful habits. At this time, the student notes the most important parts of the material he listens to and talks about what is being discussed in the material based on these notes. When taking notes, you can use not only writing, but also pictures, short signs and symbols, etc. They allow you to collect, synthesize and summarize ideas and convey them.
