Construction of the Double Zurna by Alakbar Asgarov
Abstract
The multifaceted creativity of Alakbar Asgarov, an outstanding artist of the Azerbaijani people, a virtuoso-innovator of wind musical instruments, an educator, the author of dance melodies, diringis and mugham colors, is one of the pressing issues of the performing arts today. The reforms and innovations made by the master artist on wind instruments: clarinet, balaban, pipe, trumpet, ney have enriched our national musical treasure. In our previous research articles, we have provided detailed information about the Azerbaijani clarinet and two-valve balaban instruments invented by Alakbar Asgarov. However, despite this, Alakbar Askerov's multifaceted and colorful creativity, his reforms and innovations are still being studied today.
In this article, the history and meaning of zurna, one of the national and ancient instruments of the Azerbaijani people, is explained. Apart from that, the structural features, dimensions and layout of the double wind instrument, which is included in the collection of wind musical instruments made by our master craftsman Alakbar Askerov and is considered one of its constructions, are reviewed. It should also be noted that the dimensions and layout of the parts of the double barrel are taken from the original instrument.
Let's note that the thesis "Alakbar Askerov's role in the development of Azerbaijani wind instruments" was investigated for the first time by us, so the topic of this article is also new. For this reason, the list of literature is presented in small numbers.
The photos reflected in the article were taken from the original instrument in Alakbar Asgarov's personal archive.
