Comparative Analysis of Oxidative Stress Indicators in
Patiens With Glomerulonephrits
Abstract
The role of oxidative stress in the mechanisms of kidney tissue damage during glomerulonephritis is a topical research topic. The main aim of the presented work is to assess the balance between prooxidant and antioxidant systems in patients with glomerulonnephritis at the labaratory level. In the presented work, the levels of malondialdehyde (MDA) as an indicator of lipid peroxidation and glutathione (GSH) as a main component of the antioxidant defense system were determined in blood samples to assess the degeee of kidney tissue damage. In parallel, the amount of creatinine in blood serum was also measured to check the functional state of the kidneys. As an increase in the concentration of MDA, the end product of lipid peroxidation, is a indicator of acute damage to cell membranes by active oxygen formate (AOF). At the same time, a decrease in GSH, the main intracellular antioxidant, disrupts redox homeostasis, which leads to apoptosis and functional loss of glomerular cells. The consequence of these disturbances is a decrease in glomerular filtration rate and the development of renal failure, which is manifested by a sharp increase in serum creatinine levels. In conclusion, the results obtained allow us to biochemically anlyze the oxidative changes and renal function occuring in the body during the pathological process.
