Written Communication Skills and Development in Turkish

Abstract

Humans are social beings and constantly need to interact with their environment to survive. One of the most critical elements that transforms humans from biological beings into social beings is communication. Humans need to understand and be understood. Being understood, in particular, is one of the most desired states.

People continuously send and receive messages to make sense of the events around them and to explain themselves to others. Every action, speech, silence, posture, facial expression, and sitting position stems from an effort to express oneself. Even a person who chooses silence tries to convey something to their surroundings through body language or reconciles with themselves in internal communication. In such cases, they think about events and situations, evaluate their current feelings and thoughts, and guide their behavior and life in line with their decisions. The purpose of written communication is to ensure a specific change in behavior of the target audience. Persuading and influencing the reader are among the main goals of communication, which also defines the purpose of writing.
