The Role of Teacher-Student Relationships on Academic Motivation

Abstract

Teacher-student relationships are one of the most important elements of the educational experience and play a significant role in shaping academic motivation. Positive relationships between teachers and students create a conducive environment for learning, enhance self-confidence, and encourage academic effort. On the other hand, negative relationships can lead to decreased engagement, anxiety, and academic underachievement. This thesis explores the impact of teacher-student relationships on students' learning motivation, examining key factors such as emotional support, teacher expectations, and communication styles. The study also discusses the implications for educational practice and the importance of fostering strong teacher-student relationships in educational settings.
