Abstract. The rapid advancement of information and communication technologies (ICT) in the twenty-first century has led to significant transformations across various sectors of society, particularly in the field of education. Digitalization has reshaped educational environments, modernized traditional teaching approaches, and created new opportunities for delivering more flexible, accessible, and effective learning experiences. In the field of foreign language education, the integration of digital technologies has become one of the key factors influencing both teaching methodologies and learning outcomes. Today, e-learning platforms, mobile applications, social media tools, virtual and augmented reality technologies, as well as artificial intelligence-based systems, have become essential components of language learning processes.

This article examines the impact of digital technologies on foreign language learning and explores the innovations they have introduced into educational practices. Particular attention is paid to their role in enhancing learner motivation, supporting personalized learning experiences, and improving language proficiency. The study is based on a comprehensive review of scientific literature, comparative analysis, and theoretical generalization methods. The findings reveal that technology-enhanced learning environments effectively address individual learning needs and contribute significantly to the development of listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills.

Despite their numerous advantages, the implementation of digital technologies in language education also presents several challenges. These include inadequate technological infrastructure, unequal access to digital resources, issues related to the digital divide, concerns, and varying levels of digital competence among educators. The article additionally analyzes the current state of digital transformation in foreign language education within the Azerbaijani educational system and discusses future development prospects. The results indicate that the systematic and purposeful integration of digital technologies can substantially improve the quality of foreign language education, align teaching practices with contemporary educational requirements, and strengthen learners’ intercultural and communicative competencies in a globalized world.
