Study of the Eco-Ameliorative State of Saline Soils
Abstract
The reclamation of “wasteland” withdrawn from agricultural use is of crucial importance for providing the population with food. The transformation of cultivated land into abandoned agricultural land occurs primarily due to salinization. For the purposes of sustainable development, it is necessary to study their current state and prepare proposals for their reconstruction, having analyzed world research on the melioration state of saline lands. Therefore, this study is devoted to the study of the current ecological and reclamation state of abandoned territories. Proposed directions for changes in their development were also presented. Taking into account the material and technical capabilities of the farms and the ecological and meliorative situation of the research object, two methods of developing abandoned lands at the research object (organic and agro-innovative) are proposed and the scientific necessity of their use in soil salinization is substantiated. According to materials from the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs, the world population increases by 1 billion approximately every 12 to 13 years. It is estimated that the global population will reach 8 billion in 2024. As a result of this population growth, 30% of the world's population suffers from food shortages, and nearly 800 million people are starving.
