Scorpio Season: Analysis in the Context of Genre, Theme,
and Popularity
Abstract
This article explores the development of the cinema industry in independent Azerbaijan and the role of the mini-series “Agrab movsumu” ("Scorpion Season") within this context. During the period of independence, the film industry has evolved through new generations of directors and screenwriters offering different approaches. A key example of this development is the success of “Agrab movsumu” ("Scorpion Season"). The article highlights the importance of the deep analysis presented by the series on societal, familial, and social issues, as well as the unique perspective on human relationships. Director Emil Guliyev explains criminal events not merely as crimes, but in relation to social problems. The series also serves an educational function, helping to deter young people from criminal behavior. The widespread discussion of the series on social networks further underscores its strong impact on society.
