Russian Language Influence on the Syntactic Structure of the Kazakh Language

Abstract. The article examines the changes in the syntactic structure of the Kazakh language, a member of the Kipchak group of Turkic languages, under the influence of the Russian language. The aim of the study is to identify and analyze syntactic changes that have emerged in Kazakh as a result of intensive language contact with Russian, using a comparative approach. The research is based on descriptive and comparative methods, and the analysis is supported by examples from both Kazakh and Russian languages.
The findings indicate that calque constructions have become widespread in Kazakh, particularly in word combinations and official naming patterns. Structural models such as “имени / atyndaky” (imeni/atındağu), “по / jönindegi” (po/jönindegi), and “при / janındağı” (pri/janındağı) represent key examples of Russian syntactic influence. While these structures have contributed to the expansion of expressive possibilities in Kazakh, in some cases they have also affected the naturalness of its native syntactic system.
In conclusion, Russian influence has led to both structural changes and the emergence of parallel syntactic models in the Kazakh language. The study of these processes is important for understanding language contact phenomena in modern Turkic languages.
