Organizing Activities for the Grammatically Correct Acquisition of Speech in Preschool Children

Abstract

The development of speech in preschool-aged children depends on how well they have mastered the grammatical structure of their native language. Grammatical meaning is the meaning expressed by words that reflect the relationships existing between objects and phenomena. The main way to form grammatically correct speech is through specially organized and purposeful training sessions. In addition, the educator should correct grammatical mistakes that arise during each session and, in general, throughout the child’s speech activity in a timely manner. During such sessions, children’s attention should be directed toward understanding specific grammatical forms. For the sessions to be effective, the educator must act in a planned and consistent manner. It should be determined in advance which grammatical topic to begin with and which rules to teach at the next stages. Each session should serve only one grammatical objective — for example, mastering the infinitive or expanding a simple sentence. The children’s attention should be focused on the correct pronunciation of the grammatical form being taught and its proper use in speech.
