Neologisms in English and Uzbek Languages
Abstract
This article explores neologisms in both English and Uzbek languages, focusing on their origins, structural types and linguistic relevance. It discusses the internal and external factors that contribute to lexical innovation, such as technological advancement, globalization and the communicative needs of modern society. Various classifications of neologisms are considered, including by structure (simple, compound and terminological) and by function (new word, neologism, occasionalism, nonce word). The study underscores the universal principles of word formation across languages, while also emphasizing the unique adaptation strategies employed by Uzbek. Ultimately, it concludes that neologisms not only enrich vocabulary, but also reflect cultural, technological and ideological shifts within a speech community.
