Abstract. The article extensively examines the legal foundations of labor relations,
the concept of leadership, and the professional and personal qualities that play an
important role in the formation of a modern manager. Based on the Constitution of
the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Labor Code, the principles governing the
establishment, modification, and regulation of labor relations are explained,
while the concepts of employee, employer, and labor collective are clarified from a
legal perspective. At the same time, the role of international labor law norms and
the conventions of the International Labour Organization in the development of
labor relations is emphasized.
The article notes that leadership is not only a managerial function, but is also
closely connected with such qualities as strong communication skills, strategic
thinking, emotional intelligence, responsibility, and flexible decision-making.
The study presents discipline, self-confidence, the ability to build and manage teams,
listening skills, proper risk assessment, continuous improvement of knowledge and
skills, and the constructive resolution of conflicts as the main characteristics of an
effective leader. The article highlights that conflicts are an inseparable part of
human life and collective activity, emphasizing the leader’s role in managing them
effectively. In addition, destructive leadership types characterized by aggressive,
egocentric, narcissistic, and psychopathic traits are analyzed, and their negative
impact on collective activity, psychological climate, and work processes is explained.
