Development Stages of Preschool Education: History and Modernity
Abstract
Preschool education not only strengthens the foundations of children’s learning but also prepares them for school and the challenges of the future. It helps children develop important skills such as problem-solving, effective communication, and cooperation with others. Since the end of the 20th century, strengthening preschool education has become one of the main goals of future education around the world. Preschool education has gradually been included in compulsory and lifelong education systems, and new trends have emerged in its goals, systems, content, approaches, and methods. Understanding these new trends helps us learn from the experiences of other countries and, at the same time, contributes to the development of preschool education in our own country.
The article examines the stages of development of preschool education in the context of historicity and modernity. In general, the evolution of preschool education has been shaped over time as a result of various factors. Changes in preschool education have been influenced by developments in the education system and by social transformations. In ancient times, special attention was paid to the fact that preschool education for children usually took place in the home or community environment. However, with the progress of industrialization and urbanization, preschool education has become an integrated part of school education. Recent trends in preschool education include the introduction of educational programs tailored to the individual abilities and characteristics of each child, as well as a renewed emphasis on the importance of learning through play.
