Design of Reinforced Concrete Elements According to AzDTN,
Eurocode and ACI 318 Building Construction Standards
Abstract
This study presents a comparative analysis of reinforced concrete design standards—Eurocode 2 (EC2), ACI 318, and Azerbaijan's AzDTN 2.3-1—focusing on slabs, beams, columns, and foundations. Using MATLAB-based calculations, the key differences in safety, material strength, and load-bearing capacity are evaluated. The results indicate that ACI 318 allows for higher structural strength (up to 85% more than AzDTN), while Eurocode provides intermediate values. The analysis demonstrates how different safety philosophies influence design outcomes, providing insights for engineers working with multiple codes. The study emphasizes the necessity of aligning international construction practices, particularly in seismic regions.
