Comparative Analysis of the Case System in German and Russian

Abstract

The main aim of this study is to determine the functional and morphological characteristics of grammatical cases in the German and Russian languages through a comparative analysis. The primary methods used in the research include comparative-grammatical analysis, descriptive analysis, and contrastive analysis. The comparative study of cases in German and Russian allows not only the examination of grammatical structures but also a deeper understanding of the semantic, communicative, and didactic aspects of language. The comparative investigation of case systems in German and Russian contributes to identifying grammatical parallels and ensuring the terminological consistency of scientific language. This direction has significant theoretical and practical importance both for theoretical linguistics and translation practice. In both languages, the case system is one of the main grammatical indicators of the morphological and syntactic structure of the language. In Russian, terminological consistency is ensured through case endings, whereas in German it is realized through articles and syntactic constructions.

The research conducts a comparative analysis of grammatical cases in German and Russian, systematically identifying their functional and morphological differences, and also creates a new scientific basis for contrastive linguistic analysis and translation studies.

Keywords: grammatical cases, inflectional languages, nominative, genitive, dative, accusative, morphological and syntactic expression
