Artificial Intelligence and Existentialism: From the Perspective of
Jean Paul Sartre’ s and Albert Camus’s point of view on Autonomous Technologies
Abstract
The idea of existentialism positions human beings as the central component of nature by asserting the absolute dominance of the individual. The presented article explores the significance of humanity's creation of artificial intelligence (AI) and its deep connection to existentialist philosophy. As a being proposing AI, humans are at the center of everything. The application of existentialism in the modern era suggests reflecting on the issues raised by artificial intelligence and technology. The philosophies of Sartre and Camus can help deepen the understanding of human existence and freedom, as these technological developments bring questions about humanity to the forefront. Using a broader philosophical context, this research explores the reflections of Jean-Paul Sartre and Albert Camus on artificial intelligence and its impact on human essence. The article will focus on explaining the importance of artificial intelligence in human essence and emphasize the role of humanity in its creation. At the same time, the conceptual differences and similarities between artificial intelligence and existentialism will be examined. By considering the content and elements of both concepts, the parallels between existentialism and artificial intelligence will be explored, and the issue of autonomous technologies will be interpreted from the perspective of Jean-Paul Sartre and Albert Camus.
