Ways of Transforming Grammatical Knowledge Into Practical Skills
Abstact
The topic “Ways of Transforming Grammatical Knowledge into Practical Skills” is one of the most relevant issues in the teaching of the Azerbaijani language. In traditional teaching methods, grammar was usually limited to the delivery of theoretical knowledge and memorization of rules. However, according to modern pedagogical approaches, grammatical knowledge should be acquired not only theoretically but also through practical activities. This enables students to use the language more functionally and effectively.
In order to transform grammatical knowledge into practical skills, the teacher should prioritize active learning methods during lessons. Teaching grammar in context, situational tasks, speaking and writing activities yield effective results in this area. For example, creating dialogues based on grammatical topics, modeling real-life situations, applying knowledge through written essays and compositions, as well as using interactive games and ICT tools, play an important role in the development of practical skills.
The topic also emphasizes the necessity of increasing mutual engagement in teacher-student relationships. A student should not be just a passive listener but also an active participant. They should be encouraged to express their opinions freely, ask questions, and draw independent conclusions. Thus, grammar is not merely a set of rules and terms, but a fundamental tool for using the language correctly and fluently.
As a result, transforming grammatical knowledge into practical skills enhances the effectiveness of Azerbaijani language teaching, improves students’ language abilities, and strengthens their interest in the language. A proper methodological approach in this direction positively affects both the quality of education and students’ academic outcomes.
