Irada Iskanderova
Abstract. Urban planning transformations in post-war Karabakh are of great importance for the socio-economic recovery and long-term development of the region. Along with the restoration of destroyed infrastructure, the implementation of modern and sustainable urban planning principles is one of the main priorities. This process is not limited to physical reconstruction; it also includes the return of the population, the organization of social services, the revitalization of economic activity, and the preservation of ecological balance. Within the framework of modern approaches, “smart city” concepts, green energy solutions, digital technologies, and innovative management models are widely applied. Sustainable development principles play a key role in urban planning transformations. These principles aim to maintain a balance between economic efficiency, social inclusiveness, and environmental sustainability. In the projects implemented in the Karabakh region, special attention is given to the use of alternative energy sources, environmentally friendly construction materials, and the efficient use of resources. At the same time, the protection and restoration of cultural heritage is considered an important component of urban planning policy.
