The Relations of Azerbaijan with the Balkan States: Strategic Cooperation
and Development Perspectives
Abstract
Azerbaijan, with its position and geopolitical significance, plays an important role in international relations. This feature is also reflected in its relations with the Balkan states. The Balkan Peninsula, a region rich in cultural diversity and historical significance, holds strategic importance for Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan develops its relations with the Balkan countries in various fields, and these relations serve the mutual benefit of both parties. This article will explore the development of Azerbaijan’s relations with the Balkan states in various areas, particularly focusing on cooperation in energy, economy, culture, and security. The need for energy of the Balkan region and Azerbaijan's potential to meet those needs have created significant connections between the two sides. Additionally, cooperation in trade and culture is strengthening. This article will also examine bilateral relations with Montenegro and Serbia in more detail.
