The Poetical Function of Verbal Phrases in M.T. Sidgi’ Works
Abstract
In the language of M.T. Sidgi's works, it is possible to encounter both simple verbal adjectives, infinitives and verbal conjunctionsand complex verb-bound combinations used in different contexts and the performing various grammatical functions. The poet made maximum use of the poetic possibilities of verbal phrases in both his poetic works and his prose works.
It is noteworthy that in M.T.Sidgi’ style, both simple and compound verbal adjective constuctions play a significant role in conveying ideas. Generally, his educational ideals are more clearly expressed through the wide use of verbal phrases with complex structures. The use of such phrases in newer poetic forms within the literature of Azerbaijan, specially in the creation stylistically rich verbal adjective combinations in didactic-themed works, deserves particular attention.s, which he wrote to glorify the ideas of enlightenment. The poet, who was deeply familiar with the intricacies of the Azerbaijani language, paid special attention to the creation of verbal adjectives with new content and, in a certain sense, renewed the theme of national speech.
In our opinion, the widespread use of verbal conjunctions, including verbal conjunctions, in M.T.Sidgi's work indicates another truth. More precisely, the poet-pedagogue carried out systematic work to rid the Azerbaijani literary language of difficult-to-understand and complex borrowings, and therefore, by taking advantage of the possibilities of verb combinations consisting mainly of our own words, he achieved the expression of enlightenment ideas in a more understandable language.
It is interesting that in M.T.Sidgi's enlightenment poems, as well as his scientific and journalistic works, infinitive constructions are more common. In a certain sense, the poet did not work in the direction of removing borrowed words from the language in general, but in the direction of increasing the degree of functionality of borrowings in the lexical layer of our language, for which he took advantage of the hegemonic position of infinitives in the language.
