The Phenomenon of International Terrorism and the Right of
Self-Defense – Armed Struggle
Abstract
This study aims to explore the points of overlap between terrorist acts and armed resistance or the right of self-defense and self-determination as recognized by the United Nations, in order to eliminate any misinterpretation or confusion between these two concepts.
This issue is the absence of a comprehensive definition of terrorism and the difficulty in identifying its fundamental characteristics which makes it even more difficult Such a gap allows major powers to exploit these ambiguities to interfere in weaker states under the pretext of protecting them from terrorism, despite the fact that the features of armed struggle are clear and internationally recognized.
Keywords: right of self-defense, armed struggle, fighting of terrorism, international intervention, conditions of armed struggle
