The Impact of Social Media on the Boundaries Between the

Public Sphere and Private Space

Abstract

As a result of the modern technological revolution, social media brings new forms of communication, new dynamics between private space and the public sphere. Unlike the public sphere shaped hegemonically by traditional media, social media allows users to express their opinions freely and engage in multi-level communication. However, this innovation, while creating equal opportunities for conversation, also presents problems such as "echo chambers" and commercial interests.

This research examines how social media reshapes the boundaries between the public sphere and private space, the emergence of new communication forms, and the opportunities and challenges this process presents for society.

Keywords: social media, public sphere, private space, virtualization, network society, echo chambers
