The Idea and Geopolitical Analysis of Ahmed Bey Agaoglu's
Writings in the Newspaper "Sirat-i Mustakim"
Abstract
This expanded study examines the intellectual and political views of Ahmed bey Agaoglu through his articles published in Sırat-i Mustakim, one of the most influential newspapers of the Ottoman Empire in the early twentieth century. The article provides a comprehensive analysis of Agaoglu’s ideas on the Muslim world, Ottoman geopolitics, European imperial rivalry, the socio-political situation in Iran, and the cultural transformation of the Caucasian Muslims. It argues that Agaoglu was not only a publicist but also a thinker who developed a systematic political philosophy by interpreting global power dynamics, Islamic unity, and the necessity of modernization.
The article shows that through "Sırat-i Mustakim", Agaoglu not only provided an interpretation of events, but also formed an independent theoretical concept at the intersection of politics, history, religion, and social sciences.
