The Application of Corrective And Developmental Activity in Special
Educational Institutions and the Role of the Teacher
Abstract
The teacher has an indispensable role in the organization of education and correctional activities in special educational institutions. The functional duties of teachers working in such schools differ from those of teachers working in general education institutions. Their pedagogical activity combines the multifaceted roles of both an official who conducts education in accordance with state educational policy, a social worker who supports the formation of the child's personality and social adaptation and a defectologist and social pedagogue who works with children with behavioral, mental and sensory deficiencies. In these institutions, teachers operate by selecting the right methods and approaches aimed at eliminating existing and possible problems in the development of students and applying them to the teaching process. Educators must accurately know the laws of anatomy and psychophysiological development of children according to their age characteristics, as well as their individual psychological characteristics. The teacher must always be proactive, creative and lead a class of children with difficulties, becoming the main guiding figure in the learning process. Thus, the personal qualities and professionalism of teachers working in the field of correctional education must complement each other.
