Semantic Change of Words in English
Abstract
This article discusses semantic changes in language. Language adapts to the needs of society over time and develops to express new concepts. Semantic changes are evidence that language is alive and dynamic. Semantic changes refer to the change in the meanings of words in languages over time. These changes occur for various reasons, including the influence of social, cultural, technological and historical factors. These changes occur for various reasons and reflect the dynamism and development of language. In linguistics, semantic processes are approached in different ways. Examples of semantic changes in language include expansion of meanings, narrowing of meanings, pejoration and amelioration, etc.
