Methods Used in the Evaluation of School Principals' Performance
Abstract
The evaluation of school principals’ performance holds significant importance in terms of increasing the efficiency of educational management, ensuring transparency, and promoting professional development. This article systematically analyzes the main methods used in the evaluation of principals’ performance, while also examining their strengths, limitations, and practical applicability. Based on the findings, the most commonly used approaches include administrative evaluation, self-evaluation, 360-degree feedback, performance-based evaluation, and observation-document analysis. While some of these methods are based on objective indicators, others rely on subjective opinions and observations. Contemporary evaluation approaches aim not only to serve as a mechanism of control but also to become an integral part of principals’ self-development processes. The article explores key approaches and implementation possibilities by drawing upon both international experiences and the local educational context.
