Geographic Information Systems-Based Land Management Approaches,
the Eastern Zangazur Experience
Abstract
This article analyzes the significance and application potential of Geographic Information Systems (GIS)-based land management approaches, with a particular focus on the Eastern Zangazur region. Eastern Zangazur, being part of the recently liberated territories, holds strategic importance and rich natural resources, making efficient land management activities especially crucial. The use of GIS technologies enables more precise and effective implementation of spatial planning, land resource evaluation, coordination of infrastructure projects, and environmental monitoring. The paper explores the role of GIS in modern land management processes, highlights the advantages it offers and examines the challenges encountered. It also presents specific examples of projects implemented in Eastern Zangazur. Ultimately, it is emphasized that this approach may serve as a model applicable to other regions as well.
