General Pedagogical Principles of Student Personality Formation
in Extracurricular Activities
Abstract
The article is devoted to the problem of general pedagogical principles in the formation of student personality through extracurricular activities in higher education institutions. It highlights the ways of applying general pedagogical principles in the process of developing student personality during extracurricular activities. Along with theoretical provisions concerning the formation of student personality in extracurricular settings, the article also uses practical examples to illustrate the discussed issues.
It is not accidental that the State Strategy for the Development of Education in Azerbaijan emphasizes the creation of a new content of personality-oriented education as one of the most actual tasks. In order to successfully implement these important objectives, special attention should be paid not only to classroom instruction in higher education institutions but also to the development of students’ ideological and civic education through extracurricular activities.
Through ideological and civic education within extracurricular activities at higher education institutions, it is possible to ensure a high level of preparation of students for life by showing both respect for and demanding attitudes toward the student personality.
In order to achieve the desired level in the development of students’ ideological and civic education, it is essential to apply a psychologically appropriate approach to each member of the student body involved in this process. Under such conditions, the task of forming the student personality can be carried out more effectively.
