Environmental Sustainability of Aviation (Analysis of Strategies of Sustainable development Reduction)

Abstract. Ensuring environmental sustainability in the Azerbaijani aviation sector, especially within the framework of the strategies implemented by Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL), is implemented through a number of targeted initiatives and technological measures. The main goal of AZAL's sustainable development strategy is to reduce the carbon footprint of flights, increase energy efficiency and strengthen its environmental responsibility.

Three main directions are taken into account in the implementation of this strategy. The first is to reduce emissions and optimize energy consumption. AZAL's modernized flight operations, electronic ticketing and automated services allow for more efficient fuel use, thereby reducing carbon dioxide emissions. The second is the use of alternative fuels. The company is testing solutions that are less harmful to the environment than traditional petroleum-based fuels by applying Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF) and biofuel technologies. This approach is also based on certification and life cycle assessment methods in accordance with international standards. Third, it is related to the organization and implementation of environmental initiatives. Within the framework of AZAL's strategic plans, airport operations, flight route planning and maintenance procedures are optimized to increase environmental efficiency.
