Ecophysiological Features of Micromycetes in the Souls of Azerbaijan

 

Abstract

 

This article aims to analyze the species composition and ecological characteristics of microscopic fungi in soil samples taken from various biotopes of Azerbaijan. The study focused on soil samples from oil-contaminated areas in the Absheron Peninsula, soils along the gas pipeline route, and soils from the cement plant area. Isolation and identification of microscopic fungi were carried out from the collected samples. Phytotoxicity and toxicity of the soils were evaluated using radish seedlings and biosensor techniques.

     The results showed significant differences in the species composition of microscopic fungi in the studied soils. A total of 53 fungal strains belonging to 15 genera were isolated, with the majority representing the Penicillium and Aspergillus genera. Furthermore, soils subjected to anthropogenic impacts were found to be dominated by toxic and allergenic fungi. Phytotoxicity tests revealed that the cultural liquids of the microscopic fungi had varying degrees of impact on the root growth of radish seedlings, with fungi exhibiting high toxic effects reducing soil productivity. 

The findings of the study highlight the significant impact of changes in the species composition of microscopic fungi associated with soil contamination on ecosystem health and productivity. This further emphasizes the importance of soil monitoring and protection. The results provide valuable information for the restoration and sustainable management of soil ecology.
