Classification of Salinized Soils in Azerbaijan Based on
Salinity Degree and Type
Abstract
Salinized soils in Azerbaijan are classified based on their salinity degree and characteristics. These soils are formed due to the influence of both surface and groundwater with high salinity, each having distinct features.
Mixed soils (salinity) contain dissolved salts and can be made suitable for agriculture through specific measures. Silvical soils are formed due to high salinity in groundwater and have low fertility. Highly saline soils have a very high salt content, making them difficult to adapt for agricultural use. Salt soils, with the highest salinity levels, require special treatments to improve their fertility. This classification plays an important role in managing salinized soils and their use for agricultural purposes.
