Poetic Chronicle of the National-Independence Struggle
Abstract
Bakhtiyar Vahabzadeh, who defined his poetic style in his poems, describes new social conflicts and collisions in his poems. This qualitative change in the poet's poetic creativity was, on the one hand, related to the processes taking place in the post-war world, and on the other hand, it was
related to the growth of nationalist sentiment in Azerbaijan in the 1950s. In this sense, the breadth of scale, noticeable in the subject and content of Bakhtiyar Vahabzadeh's poems, is not limited only to the chaotic events and processes taking place in the former Soviet space. It is true that there are no such important and urgent problems in the former Soviet Union, including in the reality of Azerbaijan, that would not be touched upon or expressed in the poet's general creativity. This is, of course, a remarkable feature of his restless creative character. On the other hand, one can come across such topics and problems that the poet tends and attempts to bring to the level of relations not only within the limited national framework, but also within wider and more extensive borders. The civic position brings new topics and problems to Bakhtiyar Vahabzadeh's poems. In his poems, the poet sometimes wrote about the processes taking place in Azerbaijan, changing time and place. One of such works by Bakhtiyar Vahabzadeh is "The Eternal Statue". The work describes the struggle of the Norwegians for liberation from fascist captivity with psychological layers. The poet's psychological description of the German soldier Werther (in fact, the name itself in the work was not chosen by chance, it is associated with W. Goethe's "The Sorrows of Young Werther") determines the development of the poem in a psychological plan. As in his other epic works, in this work, Bakhtiyar Vahabzadeh attempts to express the events and details, the contrasting and contradictory situations that are taking place in close connection and unity with nature and natural factors. In general, in the world, in the Western world, along with the socio-political processes taking place, Bakhtiyar Vahabzadeh was equally concerned about the real realities, moral and spiritual erosion, crisis and degradation in this society.
